| For me it alternates from week to week. I train every second day so one week has four training days and the other has three. All of my daily sessions are three hours long. These involve two hours of weight training and one hour of table time. In every session i try to stick to the same routine with exception to grip work. My routine focuses on: biceps, triceps, brachialus, brachi radialus, deltoids, lats, pecs. My grip work varies between: finger curls, pinch gripper, CoC and plate loader depending on the session or if i want to focus on a particular weakness or injury. Gains are calculated and increased every two weeks. |

| That's a LOT of training dude!
I also train 3-4 days in the gym and then pull at least once a week for 2 hours; when I pull I try and go to or close to failure - I couldn't do that 3 times a week. Some weeks I pull twice but not often.
I also use a schedule for the weights I work out with and have a planned progression, which suits me really well, though this doesn't seem to work quite a few for the aw style exercises where the forum can be more variable.

| It is a lot of time but training is a science. I bet there's plenty of people who spend more time than i do sitting on their arses. I fully appreciate that i'm just a novice and when you've felt the power and technique of pro's like Nick and Stuart Hall, Andy Barker, Ted Wilson, Chris Ham Chris Murphy, Neil Pickup Terry Ackers, Paul Maiden...... That's when the intelligent novices realise that these guys are the elite in our country. They're OBVIOUSLY training their arses off to be the best, therefore so am i otherwise i'll always be a scrub. Training like this enables me to pull at full power every two days. Unfortunately i was made redundant a year ago, so i can devote a lot of my time to training at the moment. Look forward to our super match mate. |

| I agree with everything you wrote Mark, and this is essentially the approach I take. I don't have anyone I can train against with the kind of regularity you do, so I have to make do with further apart spaced arm wrestling sessions and try to get the most out of them and make up the difference with the weights. And yeah we'll have a real tear up sometime this year, even if it's just on the side table somewhere! | |

| Fair play m8, it can be a pain in the ass if you've not got regular training partners. I hope this changes for you. Out of interest, where and with whom do you train and would it not be worth your while travelling to Nicks every once in a while? The side table would be fine mate, unless someone could arrange the super match at a comp later in the year. Other than that it's unlikely it would go ahead given our weight classes. |

| I sometimes train at the MK club on mondays evenings, but as it takes nearly 2 hours to get there then the same back, so it isn't convenient every week. I train with Dean every few weeks too.
I'd love to pop to Nicks for one of the training sessions, hopefully I'll manage that sometime soon.

| Sounds like your getting a decent bit of help from a few pro's when you can. I would highly recommend paying Nick a visit if you can. There must be someone closer to you who can give you some table time, even if they're novices. It's essential you get more table time done through the week so that you can apply what Dean and M.K. are showing you. I had the same problem from the end of last year, since then i've built my training partners up to around 5 or 6 people all at different weight classes. This is really starting to pay off, having various partners on different days of the week. Apart from Stephen(Devilman McF), who is never absent from a session. I call him, 'old faithful'. |

I think you're right in the sense that there's obviously nothing better than loads of table time to improve the fastest at armwrestling. Sadly everyone local to me, or my mates who can armwrestle a bit refuse to pull with me anymore and the idea of doing a local club didn't work out when me and Ben tried it last year. What I really need is a way to train armwrestling moves at home, whenever it suits me and without relying on anyone else. I've seen the future and it's pulley shaped!
