I usually find that most elbow injuries are due to inflammation or strain on the joint. For inflammation i would use ice and if necessary an anti inflammatory pain killer like Ibuprofen or co-dydramol. The co-dydramol can be taken over a longer period of time without irritating the gut. For joints complete rest and if a pain killer is necessary try Panadol which is recommended for joint and arthritis. Bare in mind that if you have tendon pain on the inner elbow it may actually be caused by damage to the rotator cuff in the shoulder, with this type of injury symptoms are usually felt in the lower arm (elbow) and wrist. If left too long this injury can develop into tendonitis and can only be treated by an operation.
