It's a wrist roller, make one with a bit of old weightlifting bar or strong broomstick, hold in front of you and wind up, then wind down under control. Be ready for a burn in your arms Wink

You can buy one from Ironmind at pullum sports, but tbh it's just a weight tied to a rope round a broomstick, not worth spending £100 for - wrist roller

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but this is just for general forearm mass, rather than anything specific to arm wrestling. Might be good for endurance.

Leon if i get my hands on one of these, i want to be able to use it without trying to hold it off the ground. I would need something stronger than a broom stick which would snap, the bar might work. As for only being for forearm mass...... scratch This would improve endurance, strength and wrist co-ordination under strain. This is something i want to work on.

Depending on how freely it rotates, you might be surprised at how hard it is even with quite light weights when you've done a few up/downs.

I used to have one and it was great for getting a huge burn in the forearm (and some say hypertrophy of the forearm) but there's better exercises for strength like heavy wrist curls.

you defo get them from ironmind but with the roller and pin they work out around £80. Pretty Expensive for something that you could improvise.

In all honesty a broomstick would work as you will not be able to lift huge weights doing this. Will take a good while to get to a decent level.

Thanks guys for your advice but i like the look of this and think it will be well suited to me, as for broom sticks, i'll stay well clear of that idea. Safety first.

A broom stick is too thin to really work the hand, i used a rolling pin with some climbing rope and a d shackle which works fine, just drill a and counter sink a hole through the middle of the rolling pin, thread one end of the rope through and tie a double knot in it to stop it coming out, it should fit snug into the counter sunk hole, tie the d shackle to the other end and that's it. The rolling pin is about 1.5 inches thick so ideal for fingers and wrist.

i used a piece of scafford bar over a smaller peice of bar & bolted it to a frame with being scafford bar its a lot harder to grip plus i had it 5 ft off the floor at arms lenght so it works your hands harder...

When I say broom stick I just mean a piece of wood with a round cross section, I had a long piece of oak dowel which was plenty strong enough.

A rolling pin sounds like the cheapest / easiest replica, good idea. On the slim the hammerman dvd he does the wrist roller in the same way Nick describes, using 50lbs apparently Shocked

Thanks Nick, that sounds like the safest and most practical idea yet. I feel it would be of greater benefit if it's mounted on a frame, that way i can focus 100% on wrist work and a metal scaffold with a thinner bar running through it would provide more stability and allow for a smoother turning motion.
