PostSubject: Re: Grip and Go! Supermatches   Grip and Go! Supermatches - Page 2 EmptyTue 9 Apr - 23:09

Awesome work David!

I'm going to pass on the grip comp, as I'll be pulling with my stronger arm, but more than happy to help out where needed.

I'd encourage anyone to have a go, even if you've never done any events like this before. You will get advice and support on the day, whilst having a blast in good company.

Sean Paterson has just informed me that he and David Scott can't make it.
So we need two pullers; one for Anthony Biggs (L/H), and the other for Matt Preston (L/H) or R/H.

I am up for this! Would like to do grip and to pull as well.I am aware there are other armwrestlers who have not made it to the supermatches who would like to pull at this event as many of us myself included have not pulled seriously since Armageddan Judgement Day in Feburary, and there have been no comps since Feburary, and any chance to pull anywhere at the present time when nothing else seems to be happening is not to be missed, and with at least 5 weeks to go there is plenty of time to take this into consideration so no one is dissappointed,as i assume you only have 1 table and table time is at a premium for the supermatches. At most comps it is normal to have at least 2 tables, one for the comp itself and 1 for warm up etc.

PostSubject: Re: Grip and Go! Supermatches   Grip and Go! Supermatches - Page 2 EmptyFri 12 Apr - 12:24

Andrew,
The grip contest is here for you to compete.
I don't want any other pulling being done at the time of the grip comp or the supermatch, as this will take away from the spectacle. But after, then of course, just like the grip guys, much playing and chatting is done.

Regarding the tables I have one table. Hopefully someone will bring another table for practice, if not then I'll let the supermatch athletes warm up with someone on the main table before each match.

I totally understand about not many comps in the yearly calendar, and I would have loved to have promoted something big. But I have to make sure I don't bite off more than I can chew. So with this in mind, 8 matches, alongside the grip contest is plenty for the time being. I have some other ideas for later events, if all goes well.
Remember this is done at my gym, which is also my home. But we run the comps in the garden, and use a large marquee if necessary. With this in mind, I have to keep an eye on the numbers - haha!

But I do promise that I will make the contests a lot of interesting fun!
I have promoted contests for 25 years now.
David

Thank you for this, can you put me down for the grip comp.this will be my first venture into this sort of thing, but i will give it my best shot! I am also aware that you need a second table.Unless someone else is willing to provide one,i am willing to bring my table but i need to know the table situation nearer the time as it is extra work on my part! Finally May 11th is my Birthday and any mention of this would really make my day!

If anyone requires any training tools, or anything else from the shop. Tell me in advance and I'll get your package ready. I feel it will be a busy day - LOL.

PostSubject: Re: Grip and Go! Supermatches   Grip and Go! Supermatches - Page 2 EmptyMon 22 Apr - 15:42

update
1. Can you please bring any collapsible or plastic chairs to sit on. We usually have enough for the usual amount of competitors but I think for this we may be short. So if you want to sit down it will be a great idea to bring your own and you definitely have a seat.
2. For the Pinch lift we will only use two widths to save time (46 and 52mm). At the last comp this was all that was used anyway.
3. We (well Elizabeth), is trying to get numbers together for the food. Food is free for all competitive athletes on the day. For spectators/friends, there will be a £5 charge for the food. If you can give us an indication of extra numbers then enough food can be prepared.
4. This is more for the armwrestlers who are participating in the grip contest. We go through the rules before each event, and many of us will be on hand to give you instructions and advice.
