Just wondering, who's making the money from televised armwrestling?

well gary u come across to me as sarcastic i have read ur comments and neils and everyone elses, i am new to the sport but reading what neil and the other guys have done for the sport shows me grit and determinationand they have brought the sport forward but like he says left the sport walk before it can run , unless u r reading something different to me then why are you asking the Q's again ??

On a lighter note , Neil i wish i was an ARM WRESTLER i'd love to be put up in a 4 star country hotel and not have to pay a penny, im sure Gary 118 may realise now that it's a Sport that does involve teamwork,you put your hand in your pocket "WIFES PURSE" to fund some of the Arm wrestlers expenses , they also have to fund themselves , whether that be through sponsor's or if they're lucky enough like MARK to have a Wife like me who pays for bloody EVERYTHING.

I'll put my pennies worth here for what it's worth.
I've competed in strength sports since 1986 (169 contest), and have loved every minute of it. Abroad and here, and one of my favourite parts is the meeting up with friends, old and new. Most of this has been funded by me, although I have had some generous sponsors on a few occasions, and have won some prize money too.

Prize money would be great, but I am a realist, and in this hard financial time it's not going to happen, but you never know if Neil's venture is a major success then maybe it will happen. The most important thing right now is to support Neil, he is out there DOING this venture, and boy I know how hard it is to run contests, and these are on a far smaller scale than Neil's!

My hats go off to Neil, and best of luck!

He still has rights and if he wants to stay annonymous then we should respect that.

I'd like to know too and I think it's cool how you were able to get his picture but I still think it should be him who reveals himself if he wants to... Maybe I'm wrong though... It's entirely up to you but that's just my opinion.

Judging by what i've researched, he's just an average Joe, who has registered with multiple forums and enjoys a healthy debate.
I'll leave it to Gary118, to reveal himself if he ever returns to this forum.
If the forum members were to see his picture they could determine if they knew him
but my guess is they wouldn't.

Ive competed in martial arts since i was 12 travelling here there and everywhere,being funded by my old man in the early days
and funding myself,and getting bits of help from other sources..Just to have a garage full of trophies.

Recently a good friend of mine had his first cage fight,(lost on cuts)
and got 200 quid which didnt cover expenses to be honest,and recieved 10 stitches,and a swollen head
So to put in perspective,John Brzenk still works fulltime job,and in terms of armwrestling hes like Anderson Silva(best pound4pound mma fighter in the world) times 10.

Everyones got a choice as to which sport they get involved in.
For Neil to get us on Eurosport shows how much he puts into this game,and id think youd do well to find someone who loves the sport as much as him.
Some people want things on a plate,Neil gives us the platform to showcase ourselves and for that i thank him.

As for myself im not botherd about the politics,i just wanna be the best that i can be just cos i love the competition.

To be on the same bill as two of the best Heavyweights in the world Brzenk-Larratt,and to see that match in person
was a great moment for me,and Neil made that happen.

Im always being asked "do you make any money"but ive had that for last 10 years,only the ELITE make REAL money even in the
major combat sports,so if i wanna get in that position i for 1 am gonna focus on climbing the ladder.

Its a fact people who talk about "money"have probably never competed at decent level in combat sports.
Theres an old saying "FIGHTERS- FIGHT"theyre born.
