I have just started training static holds on a table, both hammer and flat. To build this, how long should a static hold be done for before increasing weight (I am aiming for 20 seconds each hold increasing weight for 5 sets until failure). Do static holds need to be mixed with conventional curling or are static holds alone the best way of building tendon and muscle strength.

I know static holds help strengthen and improve the stamina of the athletes, but can anyone tell me if static holds are less, equally or more necessary than weight training in the same discipline?

as long as your wrists and fingers are strong , then id say static holds are the best excersise you can do to build crazy tendon based stopping power.
