PostSubject: Interview with Nick Hall   Interview with Nick Hall EmptyMon 27 Sep - 19:07

interview with Nick THE SHAKE Hall

Q Nick when and were was your first comp and why did you enter?
A my first comp was july 1996 which i won at the rose and bowl i entered it just to see how strong i was

Q How long did you serve in the novice ranks?
A i pulled my first comp in 1996 then hurt my arm later on in that year i won the british novice in 2001.. so i pulled novice for 4 years

Q How did you find the novice seen then was it harder or easier than todays novice pullers?
a it was a lot harder back then ...the level was a lot higher than it is today ....

Q From your step up from novice to pro how did you find the tranction?
A i pulled a lot of pro comp in my novice days.. so the jump up to the pro's wasn't as hard pulled to pro comps to learn...

Q you won your first pro british in 2002 can you tell us who you beat that day to win it?
A i beat a guy twice called steve tibbats this guy was a 5 time british champion and had wins over Neil Pickup and the legend silverback Nigel Crawthorne

A You have visited many countrys can you tell us some of your best wins and finshes?
Q I went to Belgium and came 3rd in the 90kg class behind then world and european champion Neil Pickup and many times Vice champipon Bill Frank of germany there was 15 men in that class,my first worlds in finland 2000 i beat an amercia in the hook i was on top of the world is was a mega feeling
i place 10th in amercia in 2002 ...10th in canada 2003 ...13th in japan 2005

A after your british championship win you struggled for a while can you tell us why?
Q in 2003 pulled lot of supermatches in the pro grip event...i just burnt my self out..then hurt my elbow in which it has taken many years to get over

Q You started you own club up which has produced many champion can you tell us a little bit about how you formed the club and the champions you help create?
A i started the club in 2003
stuart hall 6 time british champion
chris murphy 2 time british champion
chris ham 3 time british champion
terry ackers 2 times british champion
murray stephen british champion & world fire fighter champion
nick hall british champion

Q how do you feel having a club affected your own wrestling?
A it was good at the time got some good lads in the club.. but with me teaching all the time i went backwards

Q Who was your favourite pupil to coach?
A murray stephen when he was training for british & world fighter games back in 2008 which he won both i was very proud he never missed a session...

Q you had a accident that didnt help your career can you tell us about it?
A i cut off half of my index finger in 2006 on my left hand

Q you havent been very active in recent times maybe only 1 comp a year is there a reason for this?
A mainly due to a bad elbow prob on my right arm

Q you started a forum that has quickly become the best source of info for all the wrestlers in the country can you tell us why you set it up and the affect you think it has had on the sport in the uk?
A its was terry idea so i said yes lets do it.....its made a huge impact on the sport where everyone up to date with comps, trainig, clubs etcs

Q what do you think can be done to improve the sport of today in the uk?
A more comps & clubs..

Q what training excerises have you been doing recently?
A a lot of wrist curling when i get time been a busy year with my dad being ill

Q You were training with paul maiden before the british he said you were strong on the table are you feeling like your ownself again?
A yes i am feeling better my eblow pain has gone.. plus you cant get a beetter coach then paul maiden...

Q you have a sucessful yearly comp the ranmpage can you tell us how this started?
A it started over a few beers at murray 40th do a lad called tony greenwood said he could beat me easy on the left so i did rampage 1 & beat him twice on the left

Q wants next for the rampage and are we going to see more comps from you?
A going to do rampage super matches every december then do a few main draw comps for novice & pro over the coming 12 months

Q finally when will you be back and what do you want to acheive in the next few years?
A going to be back training for 2011 & do my best

Thankyou Nick

You are a legend coach, sometimes people listen and see what is current, but it is good to see the history books too.

The reason I was a good student is you put yourself out to train me and that is very important to me and I thank you for that Nick.

Maybe I can help you in the coming years, it would be great to see you back on top bud!!

KEEP THE TRAINING UP!!! Laughing

That would be pretty cool, we would learn a lot about the history and
personalities of the arm wrestlers here at home.

Nice one Nick
Paul is good at his interviews
I think its a great idea for Paul to do the interviews
When we started LPP Paul did one with the members with a vidio camera
It would be good if he did a vidio interview with some vidio archives the Michael Parkinson of the armwresling world Razz Razz
He as a great sence of humour and makes a great interviewer Laughing Laughing
