how did you get in to armwrestling?

I went to Blackburn (King William shopping centre I think) and saw Neil, Sylvan, Steve Rogers, Ian Stones all competing on stage. From there, I started training at the Hordens with the guys and went from there....

I have always held a torch for AW, probably since watching Over the Top (sad, but true). I saw 'proper' AW at Seni a few years back, but I only really got into the sport in recent months thro the support of the guys on this site...

Nick put me onto Craig Sanders who kindly invited me to train with him. I also recently started training Leon, which has helped alot.

Currently looking forward to my first outing at the british novice.

I never won a match accept with a new guy that also started at the same time as me. Since this i continued training at Rossendale Armwrestling Club and learn't all the move's off Nick Hall then started to beat guy's that i couldn't do when i first started. Now i feel i have come a long way in the sport and i will continue to try to be the best that i can. cheers

I got into armwrestling after meeting Nick Hall whilst training at my local gym. I went to Rossendale Armwrestling training night and met Nick, Stuart Hall, Chris Murphy, Chris Ham, Tom waddington, Murray Stephen

I have been training now for 16 months and entered several competitions in the last 12 months. My first competition, I was grateful to Ted Wilson and Ian Stones for realising I was a novice when I drew them and not pulling my arm off. I wrestled a strong guy called Chris Waters and lost my first match in the straps. The next time I wrestled was at great comp organised by Keith Taylor from Preston Panthers – I won the novice competition at 65kg. I competed again at the 2007 British Novice Championships and managed 3rd place (I’ll be back for top spot next year)

I have listened to lots of advice from very experienced wrestlers and am keen to develop myself over the next couple of years. It is great training with the lads at Rossendale Armwrestling as they really do give 100% effort and encouragement. Although I am perhaps the lightest man in the club, I still benefit from pulling against the stronger lads.

I imagine I will bump into anyone who reads this at future comps – hopefully Rossendale Rampage if you’re all coming ??

ive always been intrested in armwrestling and strength sports for as long as i can remember. so being brought up and working on my dads farm from an early age put me in good shape for armwrestling. but it wasn't intill a couple of weeks before the british novice 2009 i went on the BAF website to find out when the next comp was. so 2 weeks later i drove to the crofters and took part in the british novice and ended up coming 3rd behind wayne spicer and tom holland. it was the first time i'd ever touched a armwrestling table. i got talking to nick hall who gave me jullian cinni's number. who i'm now training with at swindon. since then i got 3rd at the preston panthers. then more recently 3rd at the british pro's
i've been hooked from then on.
