ARM WRESTLING
JULIEN Cini is the double British 70kg arm wrestling champion after regaining the right-arm title last month.
The Swindonian, also known as the Crusader, saw off the challenge of last year’s champion Chris Ham to take the right-arm honours in Lakeside, and also retained his left-arm British title at the same event.
Cini, who came out of retirement a few years ago and is ranked number eight in the world, has now won five national titles in various weight classes and been in more than 10 national finals, having competed in the sport for more than 21 years.
Cini’s two British titles capped an amazing year which saw him also become the first elite international right-arm champion, defeating the Polish 70kg champion in the final.
His Swindon Crusaders team, which he trains, also impressed at the Lakeside event with Robert Bogdán winning 6-0 against an opponent from Poland, and Su Wigham taking second place in her first ladies tournament.
Meanwhile, Carl and Jordan Grant have both returned from successful bouts at the British Junior Championships in Lancashire.
The brothers, who are both trained by Cini, put in impressive performances to come away with second-placed finishes in their respective weights.
Sixteen-year-old Carl competed in the 70kg category, coming second on his left arm and third on his right, while Jordan, 14, was second on both his right and left arm in the 60kg section.
