We need some juniors first!! Seriously though, before we can add juniors, by law we are required to have in place a child protection policy at national and club level where any members under the age of 18 train and compete. At least 1 person from the club must have a crb check completed. I am working on putting together the policy and will make it available when it is done.

| i agree mate obviously it cant be rushed, maybe get each club leader crb checked, start looking for juniors and training them up through 2014 and hold the 1st national jr champs in 2015 so theres time to build up enough jrs in each team. theres nothing stopping a couple jr weights at comps next year tho, just an idea, gotta start spotting talent early | |

| Big Al the people want to see things happen, and the people will do,if people want it run like a proper organisation then these things need to be in place for the future of the sport and do the things we have currently struggled to before.
New blood is essential and plans are being made behind closed doors to do this please be patent but things will improve

Dan - where are you up to with the CP policy?? I can forward you a policy document when I'm back in work - you can amend it as necessary. The nature of my job means that I work within these guidelines on a daily basis. Just a question? Why only 1 member with a CRB?

Hi. I have downloaded some copies of cp policies but would be grateful for any help you could give. I say 1 per club as a start, ideally the head coach, however if there are several coaches then they should all be crb checked. Of course the federation would need to specify what checks are required.

| No problem - if you can wait I'm back in work Jan 6th - I'll forward a copy to you - it should cover everything you need - just alter wording to suit. If you pass an e-mail address I'll do it electronically. Re: CRB - ideally anyone training youngsters should be CRB'd as a protective measure and I'd recommend 1 member being Safeguard trained - at least the info can then be passed down to club coaches in the unlikely event there was a disclosure or a concern. Any questions just ask ... Heading in the right direction and covering all the bases, especially where youngsters are involved. Liking it! | |

| Much appreciated. Thanks. Another reason to have safeguard and crb checks will enable clubs to apply for the club mark which allows them to apply for a lot of funding from local businesses and authorities. | |

| Dan - good work. Either pass your email to Paul or I'll email the doc to Paul and he can forward to you. You're right - you can tap into lots of funding if you have the right protocols in place.
Best wishes everyone for a Merry Christmas!

| I must mention that i myself have been through the crb checks already which is essential for my work with GLL as i know all too well the relavance of this. However we must not have a situation where those that are already crb cleared professionally for their work have to go through the entire process again for Armwrestling which is pointless and unnesscary. The point i am making basically is that anyone who is professionally crb cleared for their work should be considered crb cleared for Armwrestling purposes. | |

Very valid point Andrew, however not all crb checks cover for work with children, therefore anyone who is cleared for selling alcohol, might not be cleared for work with children. I have worked in a lot of places that required a crb check and when people have come in already cleared, they have had to do them again to satisfy the criteria for their new work place.

Absolutely, we'll discuss age for juniors, it will most likely fall in line with WAF regulations. Yes, CRB checks will need to be updated, this is something we will discuss.

| Hi dan glad to see things moving forward. Can you update us on the structure for the up and coming New Year cup. Does this fall under the new weigh in rules. E.g day before weigh ins or not? Where? Who's overlooking the weighs ins as an independent person. Or even does the new year cup not fall into this bracket where new rules discussed are to be implemented. In which case is it only british nationals championships that these will comply to. | |

| There will be no change in structure to the new years cup as far as I can gather as we haven't yet had a meeting to discuss rule changes regarding weigh ins etc. In all honesty, it could be between 6 months and a year before any changes can be implemented. | |

| This kind of thing fills people with a positive vibe!! To see things happing is great Will the minutes to meeting be released? I ask this because going over them can stimulate ideas and highlight subjects that would warrant future attention. Also everyone can see exactly who is responsible for which tasks and associated time frames, also useful in future voting (get rid of dead wood so to speak) | |
