PostSubject: Cambridge comp   Cambridge comp EmptySun 11 Nov - 16:30

Hi guys, i want to run a comp in March, probably on the 16th in Cambridge, as I alluded to in a different thread, the format will be different to what you are used to. I will run the following classes on 2 tables

Novice, -85kg and +85kg both left and right
Pro, 70,80,90,100 and +100, left and right
Elite, open weight, left and right

The format will be just like the world cup in football were competitiors will be split into groups of 4. Each person will pull everyone in their group in a single pin format with 3 points for a win, 0 points for a loss.
The top 2 in each group will progress to the next round which will be a straight knockout in a best of 3 match, with the winners progressing.

For example, winner of group A faces runner up for group B,
Runner up in group A gets winner of group B

Semi final and 3/4th place matches will be best of 3

The final will be a best of 5. No previous wins count but points will carry forward to enable places outside of top 4 to be decided.
The elite class will be an invitation only and consist of between 16-20 athletes. Those taking part in the elite class will not be permitted to enter the pro classes. The elite class will also be run as a group knockout format.

Rules will be the same as ArmWars, running fouls to e awarded if elbow foul results in no advantage, no wins for slips or fouls in losing position. You want to win, pin your opponent.

I will be trying to put together sponsorship for prizes and trophies.

There will be no supermatches at all for this comp.

Weigh ins will close for 11am so the comp can start promptly at 12. Any one who wishes to come down the night before and weigh in will be permitted to do so. There will be a half kg allowance for clothing.

Once i have the comp confirmed i will post the date and venue.

If all goes to plan I will be down.
I have to ask about Elite/Pro.
I haven't got a clue, but which would I be in? As I don't feel like an Elite armwrestler technical wise. But I don't mind being in there if that is where you place me.

From my understanding David I think you could turn down the elite class If wanted to and pull the pro class just not both

Paul has got it spot on, i'm looking to invite guys like Niklas Matiashvilli, Soso, Craig, Stu Hall, Neil, Alan, Garry, Paul, Steve R, Kirlew etc

Each one has the option of saying no and pulling the pro classes,
My reason for setting the Elite class is to give other pro's that are lower level in strength and ability the chance to win a comp instead of fighting for 2nd or 3rd places.
