| probably because there aren't enough pullers to fill the classes and at novice level i don't think there is any difference in strength from 75 to 90kg. | |

| If i remember correctly, there were around 13 or 14 pullers in the -80's last year and around 10 in the -90s. Also i beg to differ on the strength difference over 15 kgs, this is the difference in strength between (at the time of last years british novice) Craig Connoley in -70's and Alex Atkinson who weighed around 85kgs. I think it's fair to say, with all due respect, aside from a select few, most pullers would be at an unfair disadvantage with a weight difference this great. | |

| I'd agree that -80 is always a busy class. a 15kg foldage in the 'middle' weight with 10kg foldage above below seems alittle strange to me, esp when pro's is 5kg brackets.
imo the term 'novice' is often more of measure of experience and technique, than power and speed. Therefore; it's more important that novice pullers are well matched and weight is a key factor in this.

| 75kg against a 90kg...a definite power difference IMO. | |

Hi Guys, Just to pick up on the point of Weight Classes in the British Novice Championships. As Dan Thomas corrected suggested, the decision on number of classes was taken puerly as a result of numbers involved & was actually intended to improve the classes for the Pullers involved within them. To Answer Mike's question in 2011 British Novice there were : 5 Pullers in -70kg Right & 5 Pullers Left 10 Pullers in -80kg Right & 8 Pullers Left 7 Pullers at -90kg both Right & Left. 9 Pullers at -90kg Right & 5 Pullers Left. Sorry to burst the myth BUT to be honest there really isn't a great deal of difference in Strength in terms of the front Runners at -75kg & -90kg. World level Armwrestling & indeed our own domestic scene has clearly illustrated through the years however I appreciate that this point is not necessarily consistent when applied across a specific set of Armwrestlers in a given area at a particular point in time. Look, ultimately guys, the reason for doing the British Novice Championships, is for your clubs to have the opportunity to bring through your Armwrestlers. If therefore you "The Clubs" & instructors would prefer the Classes to be on the 10's ie. 70kg 80kg 90kg 100kg & +100kg then I have no issues whatsoever in changing them to reflect your wishes. If the individual Club representatives would like to confirm whether you prefer : A.) - 65kg / -75kg / -90kg / 100kg / +100kg or B.) -70kg / -80kg / -90kg / 100kg / +100kg We will go with the preferred option. There has never been a reflection of the Pro Classes (which are set in line with the WAF classes) for many years and there is no justifiable requirement for this to be the case Regards Neil | |

| I'm working down in London on Sunday and need to travel down the night before, so I won't be able to attend.
My picks are Bradley Martinez, Colin Williams, Craig Gittens and Big Joe from Panthers.
Good luck everyone. Pull hard and stay safe!
