Nearly 1,300 to invade Mesquite, Nev. for
World Arm Wrestling Championship
PRWeb.com: "Nearly 1,300 competitors from 38 countries will invade Mesquite Dec. 8-11 for the World Arm Wrestling Championship at the CasaBlanca Resort in what may be termed the most unique event in the city’s history.
“We have participants coming from Russia, Turkey, Brazil, France, the Republic of Georgia, Canada, Italy and Turkey, to name a few,” said Bill Collins, a Los Banos, Calif., competitor who also serves as the vice president of the arm wrestling organization. “The United States has 91 members on the USA team.”
Collins, who is the founder National Arm Wrestling Promotions in Northern California, said the event moves from one city to the other each time it is presented and when the idea of bringing the competition to Mesquite was mentioned, the staff of the CasaBlanca jumped at the opportunity.
A meeting spearheaded by Black Gaming Executive Ann Sunstrum resulted in landing the event at the CasaBlanca. A presentation resulted in an enthusiastic response, and Collins went to work dealing with the logistical challenges related to coordinating such a massive event.
The biggest task was making sure entrants from other countries were able to secure visas for the trip to Mesquite.
Christian Adderson, who has been the sporting event manager for Black Gaming for more than five years, loved the thought of hosting the arm wrestling event.
“With each special promotion, our goal is to attract attention to the city of Mesquite,” said Adderson, a native of Seattle, Wash., who has been responsible for bringing several major events to the city. “And the World Arm Wrestling Championship will undoubtedly bring exposure to Mesquite from all over the world.”
All competition will be presented in the CasaBlanca Event Center.
Free to the public, the event will also include a meeting of the World Congress which will determine the next site of the Arm Wrestling Championship.
