Since 1998 the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) has strived to become a stream lined organization focusing on development of programs pertinent to the development of the sport. The process of developing a democracy where every member country has a say in how WAF is run was slow and at times cumbersome but it has served the purpose it was meant for. We have established a consistency in rules, equipment and the logistics of running a world championship. Programs to develop top referees, minor officials and technical tournament results scoring are in place and running proving great results.
Our membership has increased dramatically and with this growth there comes opportunities to continuously grow our organization. Recognition at higher levels has been a priority for us. Meetings with FILA have proven constructive but it is still not what the membership want. We are now investigating the possibility of joining the SportsAccord which is the former GASIF. This would help to position our sport on the larger world sports stage.
We have made history with the largest tournaments ever held in the history of the WAF. With that being said we will continue to positively go forward and increase our membership and improve the way we conduct business and promote our sport.
The development of this web page is proof of that commitment. With your patience and support of supplying relevant content we will make this website an important tool for future development and promotion of the sport of armwrestling.
