This is the first in a proposed series of multi-venue steel bending/snapping events.
This will be a good training event for those interested in this year’s British Grip Champs.
Steel Shredder
Up till 24 February, 2017
Event: Braced steel bar snap
Rules:
1. The bar may be bent over the knee, leg, head, neck, stomach. The bar cannot be bent by the feet or on the floor.
2. Wraps for protection for the hands will be the World of Grip 10" x 4" suede wraps. You can have two wraps on each side if you wish.
3. No gloves are allowed. No wrapping or taping of any part of wrist, and hands is allowed.
4. Padding to bend the bar over can be of any suitable material like cloth, canvas, towel, nylon or leather, but cannot contain any rigid components. You can strap the towel to your leg with a knee wrap so that the towel stays in place.
5. Only chalk is allowed.
6. Bend the steel bar, back and forth till it snaps. Max time limit = 20 minutes
The World of Grip stock for this contest is S275 mild steel.

12mm x 18”
10mm x 14”

6mm x 18”
1. The attempt is to be performed on any day up till 24 February, 2017 - so get snapping now !
2. Each ‘Steel Shredder’ bar will be marked with an identification mark.
3. If the attempt is done on your own, then please video the opening of the package and the snap. If you have multiple bars for other further attempts, only video you’re snap on these later attempts.
4. Please send me the video links as you do them.
5. You can purchase as many bars as you wish, and can have as many attempts throughout the time period till the last day. This will help your technique, strength and speed over time.
6. If the event is being hosted by a promoter and attended by many then he can open and hand the bars to the competitors, and then video all the competitors together if he wishes.
7. Please sign up as soon as possible, so that we can get your steel to your venue in time.

Juniors are welcome to compete, with parental permission.

Entrance fees: £5, steel is purchased on top of this fee.

The return of the British Bending & Breaking Champs, first contested back in 1955.

Classes: Open, 83k and Women’s classes.

Weigh in: Stafford 9-11am

Entrance fees: Free to enter.
Trophies: There will be medals for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
This is part of the Criccieth Stone of Strength day. So why not do both and combine grip with stone lifting.
