| Re: MAX one-arm statics- what your best must be arount the 20 sec mark hold. i have been doing them for 5 weeks and im now up to 67kg . Dean Scarsbrook can manage 75kg for about 18 seconds at a bodyweight of 64kg. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=UurB-wTiGds i aim is to better this for xmas. | |

| Dont forget to take it slow.... it probably took me 6 or 7 go,s working up from 40kg with a 5-10 minute break between try,s . and i failed within a second for the first 3 trys at 75kg... but once them tendons begin to work then the weight will stay up....
Im not sure if i actually damaged my arm from doing these after armwars, so be carefull !!!!!

| As a few of you know, i tried a 100kg Static hold last week.... It didnt go well..
Managed to get it up into position ok.. started lowering it, and slightly turning it into my strongest position, to be suddenly reminded that i had forgot to put a collar on the left side of the bar. Take into consideration that im upstaires in my bedroom, and the G/F was sitting downstaires... I was lucky that 50kg on the left side of the bar didnt come through the ceiling !!! or damage my arm as it suddenly all twisted to the right !!!
Anyway, all was ok, .. and a following attempt proved that100 kg is a good way away at the moment.

| I started these last week again. last year i was trying it with a dumbell on the preacher bench but it messed with my head worrying more about failing and hyper extending than actually concentrating on the lift itself. So now i've got a handle, some chain and a loading pin set to a length that failure is not near lockout so i can fully focus on the lift. I'll see what happens Other than Dean 'the beast' Scarsbrook, who i'm sure isn't human , what numbers are other mere humans getting? | |

| I'd imagine, doing it with a chain and handle is "easier" than with a dumbell as you don't have the rotation effect of the weight of the dumbell being on either side of your wrist, just pulling straight down. It's definitely safer though like you say in that you don't have any distance to "drop" it. I know that Ben "Mighty" White can do 60kg+ with a chain and handle on a preacher bench (at 65kg bw), but I'm not sure how strict that is. I can do some reasonable numbers with a dumbell now, but we're not talking Dean level just yet | |

| After doing them a few times I've got to 52kg for 15s with both arms at around 71kg b/w. I'm doing them with a dumbell on a preacher bench in the style Dean does them, with a 100 degree angle minimum on the inside of my arm, normally 110. | |

| I've been doing them this week on my hi-low pulley machine on the table and I've found them a lot better than on the preacher as it feels so much better and it is in the same position I would be holding on the table. Whenever I've done them heavy on the preacher I've always had weird sort of pains or uncomfortable feeling in my shoulders but on the table and with the constant pressure of the pulley from the top position right to the bottom it feels better. | |
