Englands regions

In a previous thread I mentioned the regions in England that clubs fall into, I happily admit that I was off with a few of them so I will refer to the 9 regions as set out by government and the counties withing those regions.

North West is, Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Mersey and Cheshire

North East is, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Durham and Cleveland

Yorkshire and The Humber is, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Humber

East Midlands is, Derbyshire, Notts, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Leicestershire and Northants

West Midlands is, Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Warrwickshire

Anglia is, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex

Greater London

South East is, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and Isle of Wight

South West is, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall

I propose that your clubs region is determined by which county you are in. Of course this is not for me to decide, just my opinion.

This seems to be a simplistic & unrealistic way of defining regions as it has no relevance to the real situation on the ground regarding our sport.For example my club ,The London Minotaurs according to this defination of the regions would be technically in both Anglia( St.Albans Herts is my Base) & Greater London (jerome is based in Barnet Greater London) We need a system of defining regions that is based on clubs & their catchment areas which are not defined by county boundaries.

This is about where your club is based not the members. Is your club based in st Albans or Barnet?

Dan im not sure how oxfordshire & buckingshire would come under south east maybe kent.sussex . hampshire . Iow . Surrey . Berkshire & middlesex

Dan we could always put the areas in to the same areas that the ambulance trust cover that would give us 10 areas if you look up ambulance trust in uk on goggle it will give you the areas just an idear

The regions I've listed stem from the administrative regions used by government between 1994 & 2011. The south east region map can be found here.

How do you define where a club is based when like many clubs we do our training at home? In our case we are in both ANGLIA (myself) & LONDON (jerome) But i consider us to be in London to avoid any conflict.
