BAF BRITISH NATIONALS - SATURDAY 18th AUGUST 2012


A few lads have asked me what time is the weigh in on saturday

Plus is there a weigh in friday nite

Comp start time

The event weigh-in is 1 - 2pm at the Crofters Hotel.

The event will start at 2.30pm SHARP

How many people want to weigh in on Friday night !? please post individually guys (last time only around 5 people showed up on the Friday Night).

Thats a nice Gag......nice n sad Gennady, although I'm certainly not laughing.

I must admit though, with hindsight, I do get what your saying mate, I was some kinda Pr*ck not packing my "Pocket re-threading tool" last year, I usually take it everywhere I go too !

I'll make sure I pop it in there this year, for sure though mate...........RIGHT NEXT TO MY ANTI UNICORN CHEESE !!!!

Ya just can't be too careful.......n ya really never know when one of those little Horn-on their-Head having little B*stards might show up !!!

Just remember that any guys Pulling need to have a United Kingdom passport (bring it along as proof) & cannot have pulled in any other National Championships.

Its just there are people out there who like to create drama & I don't want to be justifying why people were allowed to compete or arguing with anyone on the day about why they are non eligable

In accordance with WAF and EAF rules weigh ins can be done 4 days in advance and up to the start of the class you are pulling.

Hi Dan,

That is done purely for the purposes of event logistics mate.

There are often 700 plus athletes & 4 Days of competition with a restricted number of staff & registra's.

They are working on the actual Armwrestling after Tues / Wed therefore the weigh-ins MUST BE concluded prior to that

I took advantage of the Friday weigh inn and made 98.6kg I have weighed in the day before for 13 years and that includes the 6 years in a row it wasnt in north west

I’m just a little disappointed that not everyone was given the same opportunity. I know there are several pullers that would have preferred to weigh-in in Friday, but they were not informed of this option. Some, including myself, even asked for confirmation.

Why was a Friday weigh-in not mentioned in the pre-comp info?

Especially if it’s a regular feature of the nationals, as Paul and others suggest.

It’s the guys that travel the longest distance, that are at biggest disadvantage in this scenario. Anyone that’s cut weight will appreciate how it has a real and measurable impact on your general health and well being.

Let’s not get drawn into a discussion about how it would/wouldn’t affect the results and agree on how to take this sport forward. For me, the policy on weigh-ins needs review.

Can't even comment on your point Anthony as EVERYONE whom enquired about the Friday night weigh in was afforded the opportunity.

You SmS'ed me & I replied (I stilll have the SmS in my sent box on my phone mate) I rang the phone 3 times tonight & it seems to be yours as it goes through to your voice mail so !!!??? I don't really have anything more I can offer.

Only yourself & Peter Burnell of County Durham didn't respond to the SmS mate.

You have MY number did you make any effort at all to call me !? with all due respect I haven't got the time to chase EVERYONE individually mate.

Ref your phone calls and sms; you did indeed try to contact me this evening (sorry I was busy), but I'm not aware that you tried to contact me prior to the comp. In any case it's a completely mute point, as this means that anyone without your phone number is automatically excluded from the friday weigh-in.

I always intended to pull -85kg, but I was suprised to be 82kg on the day, as I'd been closer to 85kg on the gym scales mid-week. On reflection, I'm glad I did pull -85s, as I got to pull the 2 best guys in the country and came in 3rd. With a little help from a chap called bye

Hopefully my feedback is constructive and I look forward to pulling at many more nationals in the future!
