Retiring My Right Empty
PostSubject: Retiring My Right   Retiring My Right EmptyWed 18 Aug - 21:52

After a lot of consideration and discussion with Angie, i've decided to retire
from competition with my right arm.
The decision was difficult for me to make considering my right arm is stronger
than my left.
I started a new job today and injured my wrist again slightly doing nothing
out of the ordinary.
It is still strong enough for me to continue to train others and help
them develop.
I will use it to compete twice more beforehand at the british and Rampage 3.

Sorry to hear that Mark, especially when you haven't peaked and the results are coming in. Have you considered just hook matches or does that still give pain??

Hooking doesn't cause me any pain and so far doesn't seem to put
my wrist at risk but prearranged hook matches won't help me
progress in the sport with that arm.
I admit it is a shame since i'm still training very hard and i'm still not
near full power but without any major incentive for me to compete
with my right and put more than just my A.W. career on the line, it is
folly.
Like i've said m8, i'll continue to train others with it since it's still
strong enough but to face my contemporaries
in a full contact competition would be poor judgement on my part.
It's up to me to look after No.1 and i very much appreciate the support
and encouragement all the guys down in England have given me but
my main focus now is to work on my left hand and do my part to promote
the sport here in Scotland.
If using my right to train others is the only way i can put it to use in this
respect then it would be logical for me not to jeopardise the chance
of doing so by severely injuring it.

Not good news mate, but still on a positive note you can compete on your left and who knows how strong you could be on that arm in a few years time Very Happy

What did i say?
'Support and encouragement from you lads to the very end'.
That's why i've so much respect for you.
(Angie says 'it's not as if i'm kicking the bucket) LOL Razz Razz
Alas Paul there will be no right arm comeback.
Everyone has a good idea of how there body performs when it's injury
free as do they when it's not.
This is my body making the decision and i've just got to do as it says. Sad Sad HAHAHA
On a serious note though, i can put it to good use with the guys training
with me and i'm confident i can at least get a few of them to my level and
power in a few years.
Maybe it will be one of them who will make the comeback in my place.

Unfortunately not pal, it's because of this injury i left the sport a
decade and a half ago, since my return last year the N.H.S. has tried
just about everything at they're disposal to find the source of the problem.
It's because they can cleary see there is some abnormal mobility in my
wrist and the are fully aware of my arm wrestling career that they have
written to one of the country's leading hand and wrist experts for him to
determine wether or not it would be worth while him attempting to search
within my wrist for the anomaly via key hole surgery.
(Although it wouldn't be surgery but an investigative examination)
I am awaiting his decision which will no doubt take a few months but i
am resigned to accept that the outcome of this will not prove in my favour.
